Everyone has a secret role — some are good townsfolk or outsiders trying to identify the evil players, while others are evil demons or minions working to hide and mislead. Each day, players openly discuss what they know or suspect, share information, and vote to execute someone they think might be evil. Each night, demon kills, and certain roles wake up to use their abilities, which can help confirm suspicions or sow confusion. The fun comes from piecing together clues, bluffing, and persuading others while never being completely sure who to trust.
🔵 If you are good, find out who you can trust: use teamwork and find reliable information quickly.
🔴 If you are evil, distract and delay the good team from working together and discredit information that points to you and your teammates. On the first night, the Storyteller will tell the demon player three good team characters that are not part of this game, so the evil team can safely bluff as these characters.
🔵 The good team wins when they nominate and execute the demon.
🔴 The evil team wins when only one good player left alive, or when the good team no longer has any realistic chance of winning, assuming optimal gameplay.
When this happens, it can negatively affect and prolong the good team’s attempt to figure out who the evil team are.
If you are the Drunk, you will not be told this, and will receive a townsfolk “cover” token instead. You are made to believe you are your “cover” character. If this character receives information, it is up to the Storyteller to give you the truth or lie for each piece of information you receive. If you have abilities, they will malfunction.
Each night while the Poisoner is alive, they choose a player - poisoning only lasts for this night and the next day. During this period of time, similar to the Drunk, the player chosen by the Poisoner might receive false information, if Storyteller decides so, while any ability they may have will malfunction.
On the night a demon chooses to kill themselves, the Storyteller will secretly promote a minion player to become the new demon. This new demon may also choose to kill themselves on a future night. To win, the good team must execute the most recent demon.
